Fencing, the ancient Olympic sport, is experiencing a resurgence in modern times, capturing the interest of a diverse audience. Known for its graceful, fluid motions, fencing provides an excellent workout that’s accessible to people of various fitness levels. Much like ballet or music, it enhances eye-hand coordination while fostering mental agility. For those with a competitive streak, fencing offers intense and thrilling competitions. The sport is structured around three main weapons: foil and sabre, each with its own unique techniques and rules. Our program, led by Romanian instructor Nicusor Alexe, focuses on mastering the epee and understanding essential footwork, including guard position, advancing, retreating, and lunging. Participants will also gain experience with the sophisticated foil, saber and scoring machine. We invite you to try your first class for free and discover the dynamic world of fencing.

WOMEN’S SELF-DEFENSE WORKSHOP

The “Women Only” workshop, led by instructor Abigail Wenger, is designed to empower women with critical self-defense skills and awareness. The first part of the workshop involves a guided conversation that delves into understanding an attacker’s mindset. Participants will gain insights into pre-attack indicators and predatory behaviors, enhancing their ability to recognize and potentially avoid dangerous situations.
In the second part, the focus shifts to the physical aspects of self-defense. Attendees will learn practical techniques to physically protect themselves during an attack, equipping them with the confidence and skills necessary to respond effectively in threatening scenarios. This comprehensive approach ensures that participants leave the workshop with both the awareness and physical tools needed for their personal safety.
