Rec Summer Basketball

GET TO KNOW THE COACHES!

Mike Wissler

Basketball has been a part of Mike’s life for as long as he can remember. Mike’s dad and uncles all played for Hempfield High School and introduced him to the sport at a young age.  Mike was a three-year starter at Lancaster Mennonite High School and has stayed active in the sport ever since, playing in just about every men’s league around Lancaster over the years.

Mike started coaching when his oldest son, Brody, was in 1st grade—about 12 years ago—and he has been involved with Lititz recCenter’s basketball programs ever since. Mike has enjoyed being able to help teach kids in the community the game of basketball from 1st grade all the way through high school.

A few years back, Mike also started officiating recLeague games for 3rd and 4th graders and he still enjoys reffing when he can. Mike has four awesome kids—one daughter and three boys—all of whom have been part of the local hoops scene at some point. Mike says that it has been a joy staying connected to the game through playing, coaching, and refereeing, and he is looking forward to another great season!

Ty Erisman

Ty Erisman has lived in Lancaster his entire life. He was given a basketball from a young age and has loved it since starting the sport. His time at Penn Manor was amazing when it came to athletics and academics. Ty feels like his time there helped his character and his love for the sport. Ty really modeled his game after JJ Reddick for his shooting ability and his passion for playing defense.

In college, Lancaster Bible College allowed Ty to excel at the sport and grow in areas where he thought he was already good at but challenged him to become even better. Ty really saw how passionate his coach was at coaching his team to the level where they thought that they could be, and because of that Ty wanted to try and be a coach himself. Ty truly has loved being able to coach at the recCenter for his first time ever with his 5th-6th grade Rec team and has now found a new love since “retiring” from competitive level of playing.
